30 March 2017 – Mr. Chakkrit Utensute, Experts on Cargo Inspection Techniques, on behalf of Laem Chabang Port Customs Bureau, opens the “English ConverSession” as part of the effort to achieve personnel development on English language skill following the English Pig Pig campaign by the Ministry of Finance.
This fruitful 90-minute event conducted in English and hosted by Customs X-Ray and Technology Center, joined by Customs Service Division 1-3, Customs Control Division, Central Service Division, Accounting and Duty Division, and the presence of CSI Team Lead, Mr. David D. Tong-On, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, allows the participants to learn about CSI, improve English language skill, and enjoy the activity.
CSI (Container Security Initiative) is the cooperation between the United States Bureau of Customs and Border Protection and The Customs Department of Thailand. The project aims to identify the high-risk cargo and to screen those containers as early in the supply chain as possible. The scope of targets including Weapons of Mass Destruction, Drugs and Precursors, Intellectual Property Rights offenses, and the human trafficking. CSI officers are also working closely with the Customs X-Ray and Technology Center and now are building network of information sharing with the Port Control Unit, Customs Control Division.
